My experience with games

I am starting a new series of post called My experience with..  This refers to what is your first, be it in leisure or work. It is important to remember what your experience with something because it is human nature to always seek out new.

My first experience with games happens with Pokemon. The original 151 Pokemon from Pokemon Red was a nostalgic experience. You were expecting I was going to say "Yeah I own a gameboy", but no.. I came across Pokemon from my friends. I was always borrowing my friend's gameboy or reading their comic books. Everything there is to Pokemon I read about it. A truly nostalgic sensation, especially with the way the character move in 2D. It is strange how you can derive pleasure from mashing buttons. That 8bit sound of Lavender town truly is nostalgic.
It wasn't until I got a Gameboy advance because it was superior in every aspect to its ancestor. It definitely is a coincidence that this image I took from Google turns out to be the same color of my game boy. (it is still in working conditions, but the lack of games...)

Guess what was the first game again- Yes Pokemon, Sapphire.
Fast forward, I bought many gaming devices; from the dual screen  DS, the PSP because the PS2 was too bulky and a ipod touch. It is sad that many people believe their Iphone are superior gaming devices, when they are just overpriced phones.

I am definitely no Pro in gaming but I definitely love gaming. The world of gaming is definitely changing though. From one time payment to continuous payments.  Small games which are practically lacking in substance that requires you to run until you die or recharge your points to advance forward.

Perhaps that is their first experience with games?

Who runs for cardio?

It's been a long time since I wrote something on this blog. I couldn't really find something to write so lets stick to my training.I hate to plagiarize. It is ridiculously to advocate full squats and put a picture of a  power lifter squat.Likewise, putting a picture of a crossfitter to put down someone ain't my style. Hence, there will be no pictures for this post.

Recently, I been incorporating running as a warmup into my squat and the effects were tremendously. I squat heavier and get enough stamina to push out one more sets. Now, most gym rats don't warm up. They rush straight into the tricep pulldown, do a couple of sets. and walk away. They come back and do a couple of bicep curls and signed out.
Running is a good exercise if done correctly.

It is ridiculous  to say that the simple act of running can be exaggerated by the media to promote cardio and fatloss.
I absolutely hate the word "cardio". Just because you "run", you aren't going to lose fat. You lose fat not from the 1hour of training but by spending that 23hours wisely. Likewise, you shouldn't view training as resistance and cardio separately.

This is the  major muscles involved in running and squattingSquats: 100% glutes, 100% hamstring; 100% quads
Running: 0% glutes, 0% hamstring; 120% quads 100% knee damage

It is an irony to say that a resistance exercise like squat is actually safer than running.

There is knee damage because you aren't going fast enough. Here's the problem with today "keep fit" people. They wanted to keep fit yet run so slow that it is called jogging. When you jog, most of the excess force that is used to lift urself up are absorbed by the knee.Jogging is essentially hopping. That is  the main reason why you shouldn't jog for cardio.
For simplicity sake, my definition of jogging is < 10km/h.

The energy system involved between jogging and running is that of an aerobic exercise and anaerobic exercise. BS! Jogging is an aerobic exercise while running is both anaerobic and aerobic. At a high intensity, running is superior to squats. You get both stamina and strength.

Finally, Here's my guideline to running
Speed> 10km/h
Burning thigh( If your calves burn, your strife is weak.Google that )
Controlled breathing( inhale shallow small breaths, don't exhale fully, keep a residual volume of gas in your lungs)
Don't debate over the two exercise and just do both. Please run for the sake of running.

Squatting Back to gym edition

First formal post of the year 2013 and I am reintroducing the squats. Having not been to the gym for a year, I am getting stronger than ever.

A squat is essentially a leg exercise which targets the muscle of the thighs from the hamstring, quadriceps, gluteal muscle. It is a full body exercise which makes it extremely taxing to the body. The pain from squatting  why most gym goer avoids it.

For beginners starting the squat: the most important factor is not the weights but
Squat depth

Majority of people can squat. From the image, the Squat is a very natural position for toddlers. This position is typically that of a ATG(ass-to-grass) high bar squat. A properly executed squats means that your hip must go beyond the the knee.. In simple term, just go till you can't hit any lower. The culprit responsible for making you lose that depth is the chair.

Yes the very one you are sitting on right now.

For most people attempting to hit depth, their knees tend to go forward and the limited movement causes a crack sound from the ankle. The simple solution is to sit back slowly and come back up quickly, an idea that I been preaching on my previous posts.

Me attempting to do a max 80kg squat from last year. The pain was excruciating at the bottom. Skinny little man doing an insane weight

A further detailed article about squat depth and the many name of squats will be discussed later. Got to go!

Gymming part 2

Yeah I am back. With a record of 1 month worth of real gymming.
And today I will be talking about the exercise Squat.

Squatting is an exercise that involves your leg ( what the help am I saying)
Let's get to the point. You can't squat.
If your knees go forward, you can't squat
If you are afraid of pain, you cant squat
To be precise, squatting is known as the king of exercise, probably because of the gigantic amount of weights you can add in addition to your own. I am merely quoting from the internet research I have done.
While I was you tubing(its a new word)
I discovered the real problem with most gym rats. Their squat are mainly quad dominant instead of the hamstring.
To check, just see if your knee goes forward.
To counter this problem, just go all the way down. Get out of that stupid squad rack. You must believe that your life is in danger if you don't come up with that master over your back.

THIS IS JUST A RACK. GET OUTSIDE and squat!

That's all for now

Gyming part 1

So if you are knowledgeable in the world of bodybuidling, you would know that squatting and dead lift are the top exercises you should do. Well, at my local community gym, most people only do bicep curl and bench press. And every time they does it, they would have that, grr grr face. Come on, if you had done squats, it ain't really painful.

Here's how you should workout in the gym.
Exercises in order: deadlift squat incline bench press bar bell row then chest dip. Not for abs obsessed people.

Gyming

Hi everyone. How,long has it been since I last blogged? When I look at the previous posts, it seem dull enough to talk so much about money. So instead let's talk about love. Just kidding.
Let's talk about the gym.
so how many of you guys actually goes to the gym?
Its full of egoistic people at least for the gym I go to. Who cares about that.
What's your favourite muscle group. Biceps? Nay its my lower body.
I love to hit the squat racks. I hate to bench press. Why? Let's talk about it later. I am going to the gym.
